Theme: “United in Diversity, Strong in Freedom”
The Independence Day Celebration was organised with great patriotic spirit and enthusiasm at Christ the King Public School on 15th August, 2026. The programme commemorated the 80th Independence Day of India and provided an opportunity for the school staff and students, to remember the sacrifices of the freedom fighters and reflect upon their responsibilities as young citizens of the nation.
The celebration began with a warm welcome to the gathering and the dignitaries.Ms Vani Ramesh was the anchor for the program. With her cheerful smile and stage presence, she kept the audience engaged and entertained.The atmosphere was filled with patriotic fervour as the students assembled with great enthusiasm to participate in the programme.
The prayer was led by Tej Alvin of grade 8, seeking God’s blessings for the nation, its leaders, the school community and all citizens of India. The prayer set a solemn tone for the celebration.
The highlight of the ceremony was the flag-hoisting programme. The National Flag was hoisted with due respect and honour, by the Principal, Ms Teresa Simon, Vice Principal, Ms Lopamudra, followed by the rendition of the NationalAnthem. The sight of the Tricolour fluttering proudly filled the audience with a deep sense of patriotism and pride in the nation.
This was followed by a patriotic prayer song, by the cubs and bulbuls, which created an atmosphere of unity and devotion. The audience then participated in the National Pledge, led by the School Pupil leader, Tharkesh of grade 10. The pledge reminded the gathering of their duty towards the country and the importance of maintaining unity, integrity, discipline and respect for fellow citizens.
The cultural segment of the programme added colour and enthusiasm to the celebration. A patriotic dance was presented by Janashree of grade 10, expressing love for the motherland through graceful movements and music. The performance was appreciated by everyone and reflected the talent, confidence and patriotic spirit of the students.
The Independence Day Message was delivered by Chirag Viharic of grade 10. In his speech, he highlighted the significance of Independence Day and reminded the students that freedom is accompanied by responsibility. He spoke about respecting the sacrifices of the freedom fighters and encouraged the younger generation to contribute positively to the progress and development of India. His message inspired the students to become responsible, disciplined and compassionate citizens.
The Manager and Correspondent, Rev. Dr. Paul, delivered a warm and inspiring message, encouraging the students to value the freedom they enjoy and to recognise their responsibilities as young citizens of the nation. He emphasised the importance of education, good character, discipline, unity and service to society. He urged the students to use their knowledge and talents wisely and to contribute positively towards building a stronger, responsible and progressive India.
The programme concluded with the rendition of the National Song, “Vande Mataram,” which filled the gathering with a renewed feeling of patriotism and national pride. The celebration ended with the distribution of sweets to the staff and students, marking the joyous occasion.
The Independence Day celebration was a meaningful blend of patriotism, discipline, culture and reflection. It reminded the students that the freedom enjoyed today was achieved through immense sacrifice and that the responsibility of building a stronger and better India rests with every citizen.
The celebration successfully conveyed the message that true freedom means not only enjoying our rights but also fulfilling our duties towards our nation. The students participated enthusiastically and carried home a renewed sense of pride in being young citizens of India.
