Scouts and Guides camps in India play an instrumental role in the holistic development of young individuals, providing them with essential training on life skills, general awareness, self-reliance, fostering team work, leadership qualities, and a sense of community service.
These camps, organized under the aegis of The Bharat Scouts and Guides (BSG), offer a highly conducive environment where youth engage in various social and community service activities and also towards promoting personal growth.
Scouts and guides from Christ the King Public School, partook in the District Level Rally, held on the 23rd and 24th of February 2025, followed by the camp at SJR School , Banaswadi. They left the school premises at 8: 45 am, on the 22nd by school bus, and reached the premises by 9: 30 am.
There were 10 guides and 8 scouts, under the leadership of the captain, Ms Jyothi, Ms Bhavana and Mr Vasanth -the Scouts Master.
Several competitions were held and students won several prizes. It was a great learning experience.
Under the guides stream, our school students won the 2nd place, for’ improvised musical instruments’, third place for ‘preparation of beverages, BP’s drawing, Greeting card making and action Songs’.
The scouts won the first place in ‘cooking without fire’ and ‘folk dance’. The bagged the second position in ‘footrug preparation’ and’ thrithiya sopana’ badge preparation.
These activities and competitions, gave the scouts and guides, the much-needed learning of essential life-skills, strategies, seasoned with recreation and adventure, and also a platform to show case their talents, with active participation and team work.
The scouts and guides who participated in the camp, the winners, along with their mentors- Ms Jyothi, Ms Bhavana and Mr Vasanth, were lauded and appreciated by the manager and correspondent Rev Dr Paul, and the principal Ms Sajana Priya , for representing the school, and for their efforts, during the special school assembly.
It was a moment of pride for the entire scouts and guides team from the school.
Scouts and Guides camps and rallies serve as educational as well as recreational experiences that nurture the character, potential and skills of young individuals. Through a hybrid of traditional norms and contemporary activities, these events continue to motivate and prepare youth for upcoming challenges, enhancing their skills, fostering resilience towards making them better individuals, better citizens and leaders, who can contribute to the society at large.
