Karate Classes: A Blend of Self-Defence and Personal Discipline

Karate classes are conducted at Christ the King Public School, on a bi-weekly basis (Mondays and Wednesdays). The Coach is Ms Angel Jeba, who trains her students with zeal and passion.

The students are introduced to the fundamentals of this traditional martial art. The classes begin with a warm-up session, focusing on stretching and conditioning exercises to improve flexibility and strength. The coach then demonstrates various stances and movements, explaining their importance in both self-defence and personal discipline.

The students practise basic techniques, including punches, kicks, and blocks, and learn how to perform them correctly. The session also includes drills to improve timing, focus, and reaction speed. Students are encouraged to apply the principles of respect and humility, which are vital to karate as a discipline.

Karate, is not just a form of martial arts. It has its benefits; Consistent practice is needed, with devotion, confidence and determination, with a never say die attitude. The instructor provides feedback to individual students, helping them improve their techniques. Overall, the karate classes was both informative and engaging, promoting physical fitness, mental clarity, and self-defence skills.
