The mock fire drill was held on November 6th 2024 at Christ the king public school.

As per the Instructions of the Principal, Ms Sajana Priya, the class teachers were in their respective classes and were well informed of the directives beforehand.

The long bell rang sharp at 9 : 20 am. This was the alert indicating the fire alarm.
The class teachers led the students outside, along the corridors and down the stairs.

As per the protocol, no one was allowed to use the lift. They were informed to walk briskly, but not run,as they descended down the stairs and onto the ground area at the safe assembly point where Mr Bosco,the School SEP head, and Mr Anil, the support staff,were positioned holding the placard.
The non class teachers and support staff mentored the movement of the students through the various emergency exits viz, the respective doors through which the staff and students were to be evacuated from the main building towards the safe assembly point.
Firstly the kindergarten students were evacuated, followed by the primary and then the High school students.

The principal addressed the gathering on the ground where the staff together with the students had assembled, briefing them of the points to keep in mind in case there is a real emergency. The head count of students was taken classwise by the respective class teachers.

The staff and students were then directed to disperse.

The mock drill was a rehearsel in getting the students and staff prepared and trained in case of a real fire break out, or related emergencies or mishaps, so that no one panics and knows the do’s and don’ts

It is better to be safe than sorry in line with the addage, ‘Prevention is better than cure’
