Kannada Rajyotsava, also known as Karnataka Formation Day, is celebrated on November 1st each year to commemorate the unification of Kannada-speaking regions into the state of Karnataka in 1956.
Christ the king public school celebrated the day with great enthusiasm.
The manager, principal, staff and students gathered at the school grounds by 8: 00 am.
Firstly, we had the flag hoisting, followed by the national anthem sung in unison.
The rest of the programs scheduled were held in the school auditorium.
Ms Soumya, the Kannada teacher, was the anchor for the events. We had a Kannada prayer song led by the school choir.

Ms Sowmya spoke on the importance of the day and she also welcomed the manager and correspondent Rev Dr Paul and the principal, Ms Sajana Priya with buoquets.
There was an introductory speech given by the student pupil leader Akshay, highlighting the importance of the day.
Next was a Kannada action song by primary school children, followed by a dance performance from students of grades 4 and 5 all decked up in red and yellow, the colours of the state flag.
This was followed by a quiz program for the students, housewise based on Rajyotsava, the history, heritage and culture of the state.
The students from all the 4 houses, viz. red, blue, green and yellow actively participated in the quiz .
Bhuvan Gowda of grade 10 spoke on the culture of Karnataka, a brief history of Karnataka, the contributions of Karnataka, and the need for celebrating this festival.
Then we had a solo dance performance by Kundanika of grade 9.
Towards closure, an overwhelming speech was made by the principal on the importance of the day, the significance of the celebrations associated and contributions of karnataka to the nation in particular and the world at large.
She also thanked the organizers for the celebrations and wonderful program.
The audience then stood up to sing the State anthem or the Naada Geethe.
The program ended by 10 : 00 am.
