The 11 th international yoga day, was celebrated on the 21st of June 2025, at Christ the King public school with great zeal, enthusiasm and active participation.
To begin with, we had the special assembly, where the Principal, Ms Sajana Priya addressed the gathering, spoke on the importance of the day and the origin of yoga, followed by the students who spoke on the benefits of yoga. This was followed by the main program, that was conducted in batches for the students, in the auditorium, AV room, music rooms, open yard, so that they could space out and perform the exercises and asanas with comfort and ease.
Ms Bhavana , delivered the welcome address, where she spoke of yoga as not just a system of breathing exercises and meditation , but an activity that involves integration of the body and mind. This was followed by the prayer song dedicated to Maharshi Patanjali, the ‘father of yoga practices. Ms Tanushree introduced the audience to the team of instructors and certified professionals from the Samartha Yoga Kendra community. They were welcomed with roses by the principal, assisted by Ms Kalpana.
Ms Reema had played a significant role in coordinating with the Samartha Yoga Kendra team members and inviting the instructors to conduct the sessions on the Yoga day.
The principal, made a heartwarming speech, where she spoke on the significance of the day, while also mentioning that in a rapidly changing world, where there is tough competition, involving stress, yoga is a means to stay calm and healthy and also perform our tasks with perfection and diligence.
She highlighted the significance of the day as well as the benefits of yoga, advising students to practise regularly and consistently for long term benefits, such as increased memory power, improvement in overall health, enhanced concentration and holistic development as individuals.

The members of the Samartha Yoga Kendra committee demonstrated various, asanas, breathing exercises, simple to complex postures, and the children were made to perform the same, mentored and guided by the respective class teachers, subject teachers and PT teachers.
To behold, it was truly a spectacular event, with students from grade 1 to grade 10, in different batches, participating, and learning from the asanas. The students stretched their arms and legs with great dexterity and flexibility, bent their knees, turned their necks, clapped, laughed, performed the different asanas and also chanted the slogan ‘Yoga for One Earth, One Health – in tune with the theme of the Yoga Day celebrations 2025.
Towards closure, we had Ms Padmavati delivering the Vote of thanks, thanking everyone right from the Manager and correspondent, Rev Dr Divia Paul, and the Principal, Ms Sajana Priya, for their vision and support, for highlighting the importance of yoga, the team of instructors form Samarth Yoga Kendra committee for coming to our school and conducting the session, the staff for mentoring the students and ensuring discipline and the students as well, for their enthusiastic participation and response.
After the main program, the students were given a small break, post which regular classes were conducted as usual, till 12: 10pm, as it was a Saturday and a half working day.
To sum up, let us remember the theme of this year’s International Day of Yoga :
‘Yoga For One Earth, For One Health’, which mirrors a deep truth that the health of every entity on Earth is interconnected.
