On 15th August 2025, Christ the King Public School celebrated the 79th Independence Day with great enthusiasm, pride and patriotic spirit. The school campus was adorned with tricolour decorations, flags, steamers and flowers, creating a festive atmosphere.
The programme commenced at 8:00 a.m. with the arrival of the Chief Guest, L A Dhason and his wife, Ms Emily Dhason. Mr. Dhason, is a former Officer of the Indian Air Force who has served our motherland with distinction and valour, embodying the very spirit of sacrifice and dedication. The dignitaries accompanied by the esteemed Manager, Rev Dr Paul, honourable Principal Ms Sajana Priya, were welcomed with the grand band salute, by the school band, led by Md Mustafa.
The day’s proceedings began with the ceremonial hoisting of the National Flag, followed by the rendition of the National Anthem, by the school choir, led by the music teacher, Mr Maurice, joined in unison by the dignitaries, staff and students. This was followed by the grand march past , with dignity, pride and patriotic fervour, led by the SPL Kundanika , Sports captain Sourav Vishwanath and respective house Captains. Tejas of grade 10 and Sasmith Sharon of grade 9 were the anchors for the day’s events, keeping the audience informed and engaged.
Then we had the scripture readings , by Tej Alwin of grade 7 and Riann Benedict of grade 8, in line with the theme of the day’s celebrations, followed by the prayer song on freedom, patriotism and love for our motherland, invoking the blessings of the Almighty. Post this was the welcome dance. The welcome address was delivered Ms Reema with a compelling pose and style, followed, by the honouring of the dignitaries with a shawl, a bouquet and a memento.
The chief guest, in his speech, reminded everyone of the struggles faced by our forefathers and urged the students to work hard to contribute towards the nation’s progress. The manager and the principal, spoke on the significance of the day paying tribute to the leaders who fought for our freedom and encouraged students to be disciplined, responsible, dedicated citizens, safeguarding our hard-earned independence. Ms Simi, in her speech highlighted the true meaning of independence – that lies in respecting others, upholding the law, and contributing to the nation’s growth through hard work and honesty.
A vibrant cultural programme was organised to mark the occasion. Students from different classes participated in patriotic songs, group dances, and instrumental performances that reflected the rich heritage and unity of our country and the sacrifices of our freedom fighters – the popular as well as the unsung heroes of the nation. Thought provoking speeches were delivered by students, emphasising the values of freedom, sacrifice, selflessness, unity, and national integrity. Some of the students from grades 1 to 3, came dressed up as freedom fighters and iconic figures, who played significant roles during the freedom struggle.
Next was the Dance competition – glamorous and vibrant group dance presentations, by each of the 4 houses as a tribute to India’s Independence Day, celebrating its rich culture and heritage. The students were trained and mentored by the house animators and volunteers, who had strived hard behind the scenes, to make the day’s event a grand success.
The manager and Principal also expressed their gratitude to the mother of Mrithun Dev of grade 6B , together with the class teacher, Ms Reema, for setting up the ‘kindness tree’, representing the ‘Kindness Project 2025- 26 ’ that has been initiated, an embodiment of kindness with an aim to reinforce positive behaviour and values in our students.
Post this, was the announcement of the results, of the house wise march past, house wise discipline, house wise dance competition and Class- wise Bulletin Board decoration competition, lined with the theme of the Independence Day celebrations. The chief guest was called upon, to distribute the certificates, medals and trophies.
For the house wise competitions, the house animators, together with the house Captains and Vice Captains, were invited to receive the awards and the rolling trophy. For the winners of the class wise , Bulletin Board competition, the Class teacher , together with the class leaders were presented the trophy and prizes.

Aashitha Chauhan of grade A, was awarded the certificate and medal for securing the 66th rank at the International Spell Bee competition for the year 2024-25, representing Christ The King Public School at the global level.
The organizing committee, together with the choreographers, comprising of Mr Vinayak Hegde, Ms Simi, Ms Jennifer Susan, Ms Rachel, Ms Kiruthiga, Ms Supriya Selavaraj (SEP Coordinator), Ms Kalpana, Ms Vani , Ms Jyothi ( Scouts and guides Coordinator) together with the Discipline Coordinator, Mr Bosco Andrade, had worked tirelessly, in training the students, day in and out, mentoring them, preparing them for the speeches and performances.
Towards conclusion, we had the heartfelt Vote of thanks, proposed by Sr Manisha with her powerful and energetic tone, thanking the dignitaries, the manager, the principal, staff, in particular the organizing committee, house animators and choreographers.
Sweets were distributed to the staff and students, as a mark of celebrating the unity, pride and the joy of freedom. The Independence Day celebrations are not only a tribute to the nation’s glorious past but also a reminder to the younger generation of their role in shaping its bright future.
The event left a lasting impression on all, inspiring everyone to uphold the values of freedom, dignity, non-violence, unity and peace, filling every heart with pride and renewing our commitment to serve the country.
