Bhanatanayam is an Indian Classical dance that originated In the Hindu temples of Tamil Nadu and it is the oldest art form of India.

Bharatnatyam is known for its grace, purity, tenderness and sculpturesque poses.

Lord Shiva is considened as the god of dance and and Brahma revealed Bharatanatyam.

There are 9 emotions in dance that are – love, laughter, sorrow, anger, courage, fear , disgust, surprise and peace, called the Navarasas.

This art form has a tradition of over 2500 years.

Originally a traditional temple dance for women, Bharatnatyam is often used to express Hindu religious stories and devotion.

There is something called Arangetram.
It is a solo debut performance that signifies the completion of initial formal training of a young dancer.

The duration of performance is between 2 to 4 hours.
Bharatnatyam is a dance style that is recognized as the mother of many other Indian classical dance Forms.
