“ Sports does not build the character it reveals the character….”
The annual sports meet at Christ the King Public School was held on the 16th of November, 2024, displaying a blend of sportsmanship, patience, perseverance and healthy competition, with vigour and grandeur.
The program began at 8 : 30 am , with the school band at the entrance, led by band leader Mustafa, welcoming the guest of honour Fr Jude Santhosh, who was accompanied to the dais by the manager, Rev Dr Divia Paul and the Principal, Ms Sajana Priya.
This was followed by the welcome dance.
The chief guest was honoured with a basket of fruits by the sports teacher, Ms Bhavana.
The seating arrangements had been made for the organizing committee, the participants, the staff and students, including the alumni who were invited to witness this pompous occasion.
The students came dressed in their sports attire, depicting the house colours, while the staff came decked in white T shirts imprinted upon with their names and the school logo, and trousers.
The anchors for the days event were Ms Jennifer and Ms Chaitra, who gave instructions, commentaries and highlights along with the organizing committee led by Noor Shifa, Ms Maggie, Mr Bosco, and sports teachers, Mr Vasanth and Ms Bhavana.
The sound and music system was monitored by Ms Bhuvaneswari. Mr Vinayak was in charge of the photography.
There were multiple events lined up, commencing with the dignified March past house wise, starting with the yellow house, followed by blue, then green and finally the red, led by the respective house Captains.
The audience stood up and sang the school anthem in one voice as the school flag was hoisted. The oath taking ceremony was administered by Ms Bhavana, the sports teacher, with Jeevan, the sports Captain, the other SPL, ASPL, and other house Captains.
The oath taking was followed by the flag posting. The welcome address was delivered by Ms Radha. Fr Jude Santhosh declared the sports meet open. This was followed by the lighting of the torch. Mr Vasanth gave the command for dispersal of students from the March past.
Soon after, was the aerobic dance displayed by students of grade 1.
There was a house wise tug of war, in which the yellow house emerged victorious.
Next was the prize distribution for the various events and races held on the days preceding the sports day. The winners were awarded with medals and certificates.
The chief guest was asked to give away the prizes. There was also a throw ball match between the students of grade 10, and the former students who had come to witness this sports meet.
The event concluded, with the vote of thanks by Ms Zeeta.
The entire school stood up in unison to sing the national anthem. Lunch was organized for the students and the staff. The students left home post lunch.
Sunshine or rain, our efforts will not go in vain.
The sports meet FAY 2024- 25 concluded, leaving everyone with the spirit of enthusiasm, demonstrating the power of perseverance backed by team work.
The manager and Principal congratulated the winners and lauded the efforts of the participants. They also thanked the sports teachers, the organizing committee and the rest of the staff for their hard work, coordination and tireless efforts in making the sports meet a grand success.
To sum up, all is well that ends well.
